About SSC

Welcome to MSTMA's School Site Council (SSC) Hub!

What is SSC?
Welcome to the School Site Council (SSC) at MSTMA. This pivotal group is where collective minds come together to steer our school's direction. With a composition of 4 teachers, 1 out-of-class staff member, 3 parents/guardians, 3 students, and our principal, the SSC serves as a microcosm of our school community.

By working collaboratively, the SSC aims to create a thriving academic environment that resonates with the needs and aspirations of all its members. Explore our sections below to learn about upcoming meetings, past minutes, and ways to become more involved.

Responsibilities & Functions
  • Strategic Planning: The SSC plays a vital role in the development, review, and evaluation of our school improvement plans.
  • Budget Oversight: Responsible for assessing and allocating funds, the council ensures resources are effectively directed towards areas of need and growth.
  • Program Evaluation: By assessing current programs, the SSC helps streamline or introduce initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Facilitation of Community Voice: The SSC is a platform where parents, teachers, and students can voice their perspectives, ensuring all stakeholders have a say in our school's evolution.

Title I Overview

Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide all children significant opportunities to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps. At MSTMA, our SSC plays a crucial role in ensuring that Title I funds are used effectively to support programs and interventions that serve our students most in need.

Here's what the SSC oversees in relation to Title I:

  • Needs Assessment: The council evaluates where our school needs additional support and how Title I funds can be best utilized to address these gaps.
  • Parental Engagement: Central to the Title I mission is the active involvement of parents and guardians in their child's education. The SSC facilitates opportunities for parent engagement, offering workshops, meetings, and resources tailored to our community's unique needs.
  • Professional Development: Based on the insights from data and community feedback, the SSC helps direct Title I funding towards professional development for our teachers, ensuring they are well-equipped to address the diverse needs of our student body.
  • Accountability and Reporting: To ensure transparency and accountability, the SSC oversees the periodic evaluation of programs and initiatives funded through Title I. We provide regular updates to our community about the effectiveness of these programs and any proposed changes.

In essence, the Title I initiatives overseen by our SSC ensure that every student, regardless of their starting point, has access to high-quality learning experiences at MSTMA.
