How are Students Selected
Selection of Students
Students are selected with a priority point system for magnet schools based on the Court Order to address the five harms of racial isolation: 1) low academic achievement, 2) overcrowded conditions, 3) interracial hostility and intolerance, 4) lack of access to postsecondary opportunities, and 5) low self-esteem.
Priority points are based on the following criteria:
- Matriculation from another magnet program
- Waiting List
- Predominantly Hispanic, Black, Asian, or
- Other Non-Anglo (PHBAO) homeschool
- Overcrowded homeschool
- Sibling attending the same magnet program.
